Johnny's Gorge, Havelock Island
Updated 2026-09-01 · 24 plates in this cluster
Johnny's Gorge is a circular rocky reef in sand, working depth about 24–30 m, east of Havelock with the rest of the offshore trinity. Whitetip reef sharks rest on the floor; trevally use the current. Crowd the sand and they leave.
Named for a local divemaster, not a travel brand. It is an early-launch, SMB, live-boat kind of site. The Diver Atlas plate holds the surface approximation; operators keep the gorge GPS.

If search results mixed Johnny's with Nemo Reef, ignore that. Nemo is a shore classroom. Johnny's is an advanced gorge. Read the cert level and hazard list on the plate before you ask a shop to put you on the boat.
